This has been a repeatedly raised point from the Evangelical right over the last few years. Then it moved into the right-wing bubble as a whole, and now Leon is regurgitating it.
For those who may have been on the fence about this discussion, No, Empathy is not weakness, and it's not a "bug". Can it be exploited like any other emotional response? Certainly, but that doesn't make it the boogeyman that it's being painted as.
Empathy makes us human. To completely lack empathy implies a brain disorder
Empathy is the enemy if you buy fully into the American way of working hard and ignoring weather you are happy or not.. Then its better to push those feelings down and ignore them, pretend they dont exist.
I dont think any of the working culture is the point of our lives.
If someone brutally executed Musk I know I wouldn't feel empathy.

If you feel like you're a scummy asshole by the standards of the society you're in, you kind of have to convince yourself that it's the society that's wrong, so you can remain the hero of your own story, in your own head.

I think this is spot on. These people all have some sort of reality distortion field where no matter what they do, they are always right.
Its dangerous when those guys get this kind of influence on the world and can easily lead go wars.

I never even heard of it before colleagues starting talking about how Musk is always on it... Nice influence...
It was in fashion then straight to obscure pretty quick as a recreational drug in the US. Probably due to the events that lead to the movie Party Monster. There is pretty good documentary on it and ketamine.
Ketamine did come back as a treatment for depression in the last decade or so, along with psilocybin, via microdosing. Which is what Musky says he does, and has a prescription for.
So he is depressed and talking about how empathy is bad for humanity...
