I mean back then it was because you kinda had to do stuff to survive, but these days most jobs are not actually relevant and all the actually important work could be done by a fraction of the population or distributed so that you would indeed never have to get up early.

There will always be that conservative arguing that because they lived with it that future generations must also wake up early

We actually know the real atory behind this, it has to do with religion and the invention of clocks that whilst still very large, could be purchased.
