In the context of Bitcoin, it does not shrink on a daily basis. The rate goes down only at the 4 year mark. (e.g. if for 4 years the daily reward is 1 BTC, then after those 4 years are up, the daily rate will instantly drop to 0.5 BTC, and 4 years from then it will drop to 0.25 BTC, and so on)
There's a reason these 4 year increments are called "halvings," and that's because it's specifically when new issuance gets cut in half.
