hoping to get to green bone, finally!

I'm finally reading through Tress of the Emerald Sea - it looks like i dropped it the chapter before it got good - oops.
Will probably read through the rest of the secret projects then (probably next month) finish my Diskworld readthrough (not the Shepard's Crown though!)
Edit: the discworld reread was delayed by an unscheduled reread of the Blue Core trilogy (a dungeon core/litrpg)
Oooh, the Blue Core Trilogy. So much potential on that one. With some tightening of plot and more character depth it could very well have been Great instead of merely Good.
Yeh, I don't think he did any additional editing when turning them into ebooks unfortunately. Some of the pacing could have done with some work.
What characters did you want more depth with?
Any reason in particular you're not reading the last book?
Just can't bring myself to read his last book. I even got it in hardback!
Just subscribed to this community, so I am missing a bit of the previous comments.
Not reading much at the moment, but happy to have found you guys (my last interaction with the [email protected] left me a bit skeptical with the moderation there: https://lemmy.ml/post/2474733)
We are still pretty new, but we're trying :D
That's the spirit!
I am currently reading Reaper, book 10 in the Cradle series by Will Wright. So far enjoying the series.
Also on re-reading Carpe Jugulum by Terry Pratchett for my endless Discworld re-read.
Oh Reaper was really nice, you have some great stuff coming up in the next books. I finished Cradle this summer and it was SO good. Very satisfying finish.
I'm still on my first go-through of Discworld. I've read City Watch, a few standalones and am on the Witches books now. Next up is Maskerade.
Glad to hear it has a satisfying end. I have been quite enjoying the series so far. I need to figure out what I am going to read next, as I'm nearing the end of Cradle. I am thinking of starting the Revelation Space series by Alastair Reynolds, as I usually like to go back and forth between fantasy and sci-fi, but I'm always open to recommendations.
How do you like it so far? The Discworld series is my personal favorite, so I am always happy to see people getting into it! If you are enjoying it, you should check out [email protected].
We have a Discworld community here as well, it's just taking a bit to get it going. Our instance is trying to be a collective home for anything Sci-Fi or Fantasy related :)
If you haven't read it yet, Murderbot Diaries is fun Sci-Fi. Short, quick reads but very tight pacing and storytelling and a wonderful main POV character (it's told in first-person).
Ah cool, I have subscribed to it as well! Thanks!
I have not yet, and I have seen it on a few lists, so I will have to check it out, thank you!
That's a series I have somehow missed - looks to be quite a recently (and fast?) Written series - is it complete?
I think the only non classic sci-fi series I can think of to recommend is the Lost Fleet series. It's not for everyone one though.
I am not sure if it's complete or not. I don't know too much about it, just that it was recommended to me and the premise sounds interesting.
Alright cool thanks, I have added that to my list as well.
I'm not sure if this falls within the purview of this community but I've been rereading the comic Kill Six Billion Demons. It's got incredible otherworldly art, a strange universe that's incredibly detailed beyond the comic if you read the lore the author puts in the comments. It starts with a normal girl who gets pulled in to this world trying to save her boyfriend but it becomes so much more. I recommend starting with page one and avoiding the front page until catch up.
It absolutely counts :D Not all fantasy is just books :)
Fair enough! I did think about asking to start a SFF Gaming community but I don't have anything to post yet. I'm hoping I can get ADHD meds soon so I can try writing reviews.
If you decide to we can make one for you here and hand it over to you to mod/lead :) A gaming community would be a great addition.
