Finally a device that allows straight people to eat bananas

OK, I get an egg slicer, just because they’re actually a pain in the ass to slice by hand. But this? This is ridiculous.

Most kitchen "gadgets" that are effectively an alternative to the classic combination of a knife and cutting board (such as this one) are typically assistive devices for those unable to safely/effectively operate a knife. Even though a dull table knife would generally be more than sufficient to cut a banana, not everybody can so much as properly grip one.

Kids. It's safer than a knife for kids.

Well, most kids.

my kid managed to go full cenobite on himself with an apple slicer, but luckily it was only plastic.

While I agree that assistive devices are necessary, and this could be used as one, I highly doubt that it was invented for that purpose.

Maybe

I suspect that it is for children to use so they don’t have to use a knife. Then again, I don’t know the last time I ever saw a child prepare their own food.

I almost never slice bananas for my kids, I just start the peel and they take it from there. The only time I slice is if I put it on a peanut butter sandwich or something.

Isn't a child just someone who can't safely use a knife?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Just because most children can’t use a knife safely doesn’t mean that anyone who can’t use a knife safely must therefore be a child.

That’s called “association fallacy“.

No, but the person you responded to didn't specify. They just said what group of people would use these. Those who cant safely operate a knife. That includes children. I'm not saying it's made up exclusively of children.

You're mistakingly assuming that because it was made for a sunset that ist not designed for the larger group. It's designed for the subset, which forms part of a larger group. It's still, then, for that group, especially for the subset.

If you can't properly grip a knife, what will you use to eat the slices? Surely just holding the banana is easier, no?

[–] andrewta 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Yeah exactly what would that thing even be used for? Please don’t tell me it’s for a banana.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 days ago

What if they wanted thick slices of Satan's dick? Either way, they've made a huge mistake by even thinking about eating one of those lmfao
