I'm guessing "more than expected" based on extrapolating from prior months, not considering all of Trump's ridiculous and cancerous executive orders. Because even those of us who are far from being economists knew inflation would worsen, and that January is the tip of the iceberg.

I'd guess you're right. This is probably a departure from the expected trend and the difference between expectation and reality is probably the result of the current chaos and uncertainty.
