An unofficial chapter of the popular Dull Men's Club.

https://dullmensclub.com/

1. Relevant commentary on your own dull life. Posts should be about your own dull, lived experience. This is our most important rule. Direct questions, random thoughts, comment baiting, advice seeking, many uses of "discuss" rarely comply with this rule.

2. Original, Fresh, Meaningful Content.

3. Avoid repetitive topics.

4. This is not a search engine or advice forum.
Use a search engine, a tradesperson, Reddit, friends, a specialist Facebook group, apps, Wikipedia, an AI chat, a reverse image search etc. to answer simple questions, identify objects or get advice. We accept very few questions, and they must be over topics much more difficult than what is easily discoverable with a search. Also see rule 1, “comment baiting”.

5. Keep it dull. If it puts us to sleep, it’s on the right track. Examples of likely not dull: jokes, gross stuff (including toes), politics, religion, royalty, illness or injury, killing things for fun, or promotional content. Feel free to post these elsewhere.

6. Not hate speech, sexism, or bullying No sexism, hate speech, degrading or excessively foul language, or other harmful language. No othering or dehumanizing of anyone or negativity towards any gender identity.

7. Proofread before posting. Use good grammar and punctuation. Avoid useless phrases. Some examples: - starting a post with "So" - starting a post with pointless phrases, like "I hope this is allowed" or “this is my first post” Only share good quality, cropped images. Do not share screenshots of images; share the original image.

8. All polls must have an "Africa, by Toto" option. Why? Because we hear the drums echoing tonight.

Don't like how my skin burns up a little after it, but anything's better than being chastised for having a fade or bad hair. I often wish i could just have long hair so i wouldn't need to go, but it itches like hell.

I miss having hair sometimes. But then I think about all the money I save on haircuts by shaving it. But still, the option for different looks would be nice.

The opinions of people making fun of you for your hair choices don't matter, the only opinion that does is yours.

Women don't wear makeup for others, they wear it for themselves because they like the way it looks and the confidence boost that brings. Borrow from their playbook and get your hair cut how you want.

Other than that you might need to switch shampoos or change how you wash it to alleviate that itchy problem. Washing under not hot water is usually the first step since that helps keep some of your natural oil on your scalp. In my case that worked so I stopped there

Thanks but it's not that :) Fades are considered offensive and are like spiked hair in my culture. It's stupid i know, but it's the truth. Bad hair is only light teasing but fades are the real issue lol

It's only a mild inconvenience for me, but i still don't like getting haircuts

That's weird. In the US, some version of a fade is so common it is often referred to as just a "men's cut."

I started cutting my own last year. My wife gets real mad at me but for years I've always done a taper fade at a 1. It's pretty easy to do myself.

Eventually i'd like to learn on my own, but i'm busy currently. How do you reach the back of your head, for example?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

The back is easy to reach because I do it all with clippers. I have one of the kids or my wife clean up the edge.

I wet shave my head.

This is the easiest. If you still feel hair, keep going!

Didn't hear about that before, thanks for the tip :)

Ive been cutting my hair for years. I just use the 7" clip on the razor for the top, and 6 or 5" on the side. Make your left hand a a karate chop gesture and put the edge of your pinky right above where you want to cut the back. Bzzz

Takes 10-15. Longer when you're not used to it.

Takes a lot less time than going to a barber, and a lot less expensive.

Takes 10-15.

say no more, that's my biggest gripe with barbers lol. And thanks for the advice!

Haha yeah that's what i figured, sinse you mentioned time. I cut it in the bathroom before I shower. Im already trimming the beard so might as well.

Does your skin itch right on the back of your head? You might have seborrheic dermatitis. They make shampoos for that if you ask your doctor.

No, it's stubble (I think). Awful feeling. I'll look into dermatitis jic tho lol
