So for the longest time I used a douche with a thin, hard plastic nozzle. But recently some friends mentioned they used the pictured douche which has a much thicker but softer nozzle. It also sprays to the sides to prevent the water shooting up too high.

I have a couple of questions - how deep should I be inserting the nozzle? With my old one because it shot water straight up, the depth wasn't an issue. But with this one I'm having a bit of a problem with water trickling out my butt. It's possible I'm not pushing it quite deep enough.

And the nozzle has a slight curve. What direction should that curve be facing? Towards my stomach?

Thanks for your help!

So I've had a bit more practice and I might as well share what I've found, just in case anyone else finds this useful.

My steps for using it are as follows:

  1. Fill it up to the top with warm (not hot) water. One benefit of this design is that you don't need to fill a plugged sink to siphon up the water, as I had to with the old variety. You can fill the water directly into it.
  2. Make sure the nozzle is fully screwed on to prevent any leakage
  3. Apply a little bit of lube to the nozzle and push it in, angled towards your stomach
  4. Get it far enough up that the grooves are entirely inside your butt, otherwise water will run down these and escape
  5. Gently squeeze. The amount of water you use will depend on your size, as your rectum will differ per person. You don't want to put too much water up there otherwise you'll flush stuff from past the sigmoid and it'll make cleaning a lot harder. I suppose if you're using bigger toys you'll want to clean deeper, but for me about a third to half of the bulb was enough water
  6. Slowly remove the nozzle. If you can, try and clench a little to prevent water dripping when you take out the end of the nozzle. I still find myself dripping a little, so I've been doing this whole process in the shower/bath
  7. Sit on the toilet and push the water out. If you're not clean, go for another round but try not to overdo it.

Best of luck!

First, let me apologize for not having any answers to this post.. This community is dead. I wish we would all collectively move from reddit to lemmy, specially with the current goings in the world.

I use one of those "hard plastic" douches and never tried this one. Though my douche has a removeable tip, and one of the tips is a more flexible one, though not a large one as this one, and it only has 1 side opening, not many, as your picture shows.

How do you compare this new douche with your old one? Is one better than the other?

Hey, thanks for responding! :) It's ok, Lemmy is still growing and hopefully in the future we'll get more people here.

For me, this new douche is an improvement. It's made cleaning out a lot easier - I think partially because the 'standard' douche would shoot water directly upwards, which if you're not careful can go beyond the sigmoid and make cleaning harder. This one shoots more gently to the sides. The downside is that it requires a bit more prep (application of lube and the slight risk of dripping water) but I think it's worth it! I really like being able to just pour water directly into the bulb, and the nozzle being a bit larger makes it much easier to clean the douche itself too. Oh and be a little careful as there can be a slight edge to the seam on the nozzle - as long as you're gentle pushing it in, it's ok.
