"appears".... my fucking ass.

Footage appears to depict the alleged billionaire on a so-called 'stage' performing what could be interpreted as a possible Roman-inspired gesture.

the nazis salute was inspired by the roman salute.

So as benignly milquetoast as it is, it's not innacurate.

If you're going to sanewash a nazis, maybe start with calling them a nazis so everyone knows why.

The media sanewashing/legal sanitizing is actually pretty disgusting.

It's laughable that neo-fash and their friends think the 'Roman salute' excuse is rational. Nazi culture was heavily inspired by the myth of Rome, from architecture to that salute. People in the US don't just do that salute. No sane person will say 'ah clearly Elon felt the need to do an ancient roman gesture'. And in case anyone needs this stated: neo-nazi groups colloquially refer to the salute as a 'roman'.

Example of a neo-nazi chatroom referring to the salute as a 'roman' after the nazi group performed a nazi salute in public.

Things I lack the brain worms to understand:

  • expressing concern about innocent Palestinian citizens being gunned down = nazi
  • performing an actual nazi salute = not a nazi

That's Newspeak for you right there.

Next week it'll be something else startling and maskoff. News will downplay it, nothing will happen, no one cares, rinse repeat.

I'll have to look at the full broadcast later. I don't hold Elon to a high regard but I doubt that was the intended message

Thought the same, from the screenshot it looks like he could've been waving and people take it out of context. After watching the 38sec clip I'm not so sure anymore. He does it on purpose and as an isolated move. He even repeats it.

At the very least it's very strange gesturing. I don't think you do a move like this by accident though.

It was a prepared and rehearsed speech. I don't know if he just flunked what he was trying to do due to nervousness, or is trying to gain attention. But it was pretty bad either way.
