I still get a sick feeling in my stomach when I hear his name or see his face. I don't really care if he was acquitted, honestly. As great as an actor as he was, that doesn't make up for the fact that he was such a shitty person that multiple people felt the need to accuse him of crimes (which he admitted to, but somehow still got acquitted of).

Same here mate. As its said where it's smoke there is fire.
The issue with these types of cases is that there is often not enough evidence to convict. I've got a hard time beliving that he is innocent when there is so many people that has accused him of this. It's really a shame that the victims did not get belived.
You see this again and again in rape cases where there is such a high threshold for convicting someone. Often there is little evidence and then they just can't convict.
Unfortunately I think his fame might also have come to his aid in these cases as well. He is a millionaire that could throw enormous amounts of money on this.
I really hope the claims are false but my stomach says otherwise.
What if he didn't do anything, and there are a handful of people trying to take advantage of his money/fame? I don't think that's what's happening, but I don't know. I would like to think that he was not convicted, so I trust the courts, because if you can't trust the courts then society is on seriously rocky ground. But I don't really trust the courts. Shit, I'm giving myself a headache.
In principle I trust in the judicial system.. But when you are talking about a multimillionaire that can throw his whole fortune on this then I get sceptical.
By all means he might be innocent. But when there is so many people accusing him.. I don't see why they would put themselves trough all this media outcry just for a payday. By all means it's a possibility.. But just look at the Harvey Weinstein case...
I'm not sure by all means that he's guilty. For all we know he has done nothing of what has been claimed.. But when there is so many people coming out with their stories it's hard not to think there is more to it.
A Court failing to convict someone of a crime has never meant that the person has done no wrong. The burden of proof is extremely high, as it probably should be given that you're going to send someone to prison. There's a fundamental assumption in the judicial system - one I think most people would agree with - that it's better to let a guilty person go free than to falsely punish an innocent one. There are consequences of that, and the ease of escaping sexual assault charges is one of them, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the entire system is fundamentally flawed.
The important thing to keep in mind is that courts operate at very high standards of proof, and they shouldn't be seen as an ultimately arbiter of whether or not someone is a good person - only whether there's enough evidence for the state to imprison them, which is a very different question.
Sure, that's all true. But the question is how does society treat someone who has been acquitted? Kevin Spacey was one of my favorite actors. I mean Usual Suspects, Se7en, American Beauty, and many more. I won't watch him again though. I think he's a guilty creep. But I also know that I know less than the courts did, and if we are saying innocent until proven guilty, it's kind of hypocritical to behave in a way that could be compared to "The election didn't go my way, so I'm going to attempt a coup". It's an internal conflict about what the written rules of society say and what the unwritten rules of society say. But the unwritten rules of society also are what caused lynchings and witch burnings, so I don't want to trust that. Like I said, I give myself a headache with this shit.
society is seriously on rocky ground
Always has been.
Yep. "A dozen of people came forward calling him a creep but we couldn't technically prove SA" is cold comfort
so, are people just forgetting about all the rape, or are studios just hoping that people are going to forget about the rape?
Studios are 100% hoping people will assume the recent ruling in his favor proves he's innocent on all the counts.
It's so quiet in here...
Well you could try adding a comment that incites discussion of some sort if you would like there to be something here instead of nothing.
