I assumed "root of 5 year minimum marriages" being contributed to hookup apps was single digits of likelihood. I assumed this didn't work at all unless it was a fluke. The company has no interest in matching you with long term compatibility, and every interest in matching you with people who have attachment issues and will, at best, fuck you, then leave you on read, or at worst never match you so you pay and pay hoping for a single message from your desired pool of people.

Compared to paid websites that you survey for (like Match) where the goal was initially "find a long term partner". And I feel like those are a con too.

They’ve definitely become a con job. Almost all of them are owned by Match Group (of match.com).
