I switched to linux from windows almost a decade ago. Took hours to get my video driver working properly. Worked modestly well, but I hated windows gaming so I didn't do much prior. Takeaways: Linux runs like a beast, windows runs like a beast wearing a full body cast, Linux gaming with the addition of proton and additional support is nearly a flawless experience. Thirdly, Linux is free, enjoy your bloatware chumps, for a few measley fps I get a free operating system that you can literally build a career around with all of the quality free education online. Windows you better buy that Damn how to book.

People around these parts cant seem to grasp that most people don't actually want to constantly tinker with their computer to get shit to work.
Linux is cool and all, and I'm happy its an option, but to try and recommend it to an average user as an alternative to an OS that every piece of software is designed to work on is absurd.
Agree, but do ponder how things may be better if Windows had actual competition. (Maybe worse in a way if we look at consoles and all the exclusives).
