General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both [email protected] and [email protected] .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

[email protected] appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(

The white supremacists will say “she’s one of the good ones”.

In my opinion it's racist to assume black people hold right wing political views just to be a "pick-me" for white people. Maybe people from minority ethnic backgrounds simply don't agree on every issue?

She uses her upbringing in Nigeria as a shield against criticism. But she was privileged in Nigeria she was hardly someone who had to fear for their life whatever she claims.

Case in point when things in Nigeria got really bad she fucked off to the United States, so clearly she was never actually in all that much danger or she would have left earlier. Remember she was a UK national the entire time so she could have also returned to the UK whenever she wanted.

Personally I think it's racist to misrepresent your history in order to come off as cultured.

I think you’re right.

She'll be long gone before the next general election anyway, she's got nothing but culture wars in her locker.

She's not even very good at it. Labor have handed her plenty of actual ammunition but she is unable to see it.

What had she actually said? In terms of corruption Nigeria ranks somewhere between Russia and Zimbabwe so it's not great and I assume contrasting that to her experiences in the UK were likely formative to her opinions of the countries.
