Steam points which are used to buy animated avatars, profile backgrounds, emojis. I don’t buy steam games super often but I have a decent library and I’m stocked on points for life

Now as for why people would farm for steam points is an excellent question

May free to plays, probably just wanna feel like they did something

Probably younger and/or poorer people who can't casually drop hundreds of dollars on games every few months and end up swimming in Steam points like I do. Also they probably care a lot more about the stuff steam points can buy, I know I would have when I was younger.

I've heard they can with some kind of scheme be laundered into real money, though idk how and I haven't bothered verifying the claim
