Let's see what he does.

Yesterday I was watching the Liverpool game and some of the Dutch folks said something interesting: the most successful coaches were mediocre players at best. They had to start at the bottom, build up a lot of experience and look at the game a bit differently.

Arne Slot is like that. But when you see all these superstars going into the coaching game, expectations are sky high, they can start off at huge clubs and they usually don't do that well.

Maybe it'll be good for Frank to have a look at Coventry, see what he can do there. Maybe if he's in his 70s he'll be able to get Chelsea for a few seasons.

From what I've heard, one of Lampard's biggest problems is that he's a phenomenal man-manager and does great with inspiring his teams, but he's tactically weak (compared to other top-tier managers).

Maybe he just needs to cut his teeth with a lower division club (Championship or below). But I think this is his fourth or fifth try. Surely he can't have many more chances before top clubs just avoid him. He needs to take this chance full on and succeed at it. Because he might not get another.

Where is Coventry at these days? I must say I don't really follow English domestic football since the service provider for those games in the Netherlands makes it awful.

I might check MotD every once in a while but I saw Lineker is leaving so that'll most likely drop in quality too

They are in the Championship. I just looked and see they are about 2/3rds off the bottom of the table. It was either last season or the season before that they came really close to promotion back to the PL. They lost they playoff final. They've apparently fallen on a bit of hard times, which I guess explains why they are looking for a new manager.

He does seem to get on well with players but tactically he has been one of the worst coaches I've seen, both in terms of game plans and adjustments but also on a macro level in terms of drilling in structure and patterns of play.

He was an incredibly gifted player with a fantastic football IQ, but it's possible it was all instinctual as opposed to cerebral understanding and he has a hard time translating that into instructions for his players now that he's coach.

At least Coventry fans will get to enjoy some Lampardian transitions even if the football ends up terrible! No but seriously, there is a risk that's all they'll get to enjoy.
