I did not see this movie, and have no intention of seeing it, but I wanted to thank you for making the discussion post. Discussion posts have been somewhat lacking on Lemmy so I really appreciate the effort :)
Gosh, you're making me blush 😊 Thanks!

Just judging from the comments here, no one else did nor has intention to either! 🦗🦗🦗 Oh well, what about the TMNT Megapost? Or the latest MEG 2: Electric Boogaloo Megapost?
I'll take pride to say I'm one of the only people on here that has lol great formatting for movie discussions though.
Don't know if I should congratulate you or console you! 😜 But from your review here it didn't seem a total loss. And thanks for the format thumbs-up! 🫶
I'll definitely contribute once I see those movies :)
We can't wait. 😜
Really happy to see it indeed!
This was much better than the original haunted mansion. I was surprised it was actually as funny and charming as it was. The cast they chose was great and I was also surprised to see some of the audience members actually jump a little from some of the jump scares in the film. The movie did drag on a bit though as Disney tried to throw in their signature touch of making things overly emotional and squeezing a tear from the audience. Unfortunately, it completely missed and it especially missed in my showing since there was someone loudly snoring throughout the "sad" part of the film which was cracking everyone up in the audience. Older man took his grandkids and needed some rest. It's not a must see, but if you're a fan of any of the actors, the ride, or Disney in general it's worth a watch.
OMG, you scared the 🤬🤬🤬🤬 outta me! I thought I was alone here! 🤣🤣🤣
i didn't realize it would be so funny so it was truly delightful
I went to watch this movie last weekend. I like movies but I'm not an expert or anything, and I don't have the best taste so take my opinion with a grain of salt. We went because my wife wanted to watch it.
I liked it. I have to confess that I expected less, but it was funny, it was entertaining, I think there was a jump scare that got me but overall, while it doesn't feel like a proper horror movie, the "scary" scenes don't feel silly.
I liked the characters dynamic and LaKeith Stanfield is definitely a great actor, even here where the material doesn't require too much acting, he definitely elevates the film. He's the straight man and even then, he stands out among the rest of the quirky characters.
The only moment I felt like something was missing or wasn't very well done was the scene where

LaKeith's character is trying to convince the child to not go to "his father". I felt like we got a couple of scenes of them together where convincing him is believable, but nothing that was said seemed to me enough to actually convince him. We know that it's not his father but the child doesn't and LaKeith never says that, we know that if the kid goes there he'll die and the bad guy will take his soul but the child doesn't know that and LaKeith doesn't say it, we know LaKeith cares a lot for the child and his mom (that's why we have those previous scenes) but, again, he doesn't say that. He just convinces the kid by being persistent on saying "you have to come with me".
I don't know if it's actually a big problem but I remember thinking about that scene while I was actually watching the movie. Just a small and maybe ridiculous complaint I wanted to get off my chest.
After the cinema my wife was really excited explaining to me the lore and the references, so I think it's a better experience if you're familiar with the ride and the previous movies, but it's still a fun movie to watch.
I like movies but I’m not an expert or anything...
Don't worry, nobody is! 🤣 Ya did just fine! Thanks for the comment.
Oh, Haunted Mansion, you were my first Megapost and I'll never forget you ❤️ but it's time I unpin you 😢 Adieu, ma ami, adieu!
Variety: Why Didn’t Disney Save ‘Haunted Mansion’ for Halloween?

Whether the release date is connected, ticket sales were veering on scary as the comedic thriller debuted in third place to a lackluster $24 million. Competition was heightened as “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer” remained unexpectedly strong in their sophomore outings, collecting a combined $140 million over the weekend. Of course, nobody anticipated the power of “Barbenheimer” when setting the film calendar.
