The timing of this article perplexes me.
Isn't her contract with Marvel done? Her character dead?

Artists, unfortunately, are all too familiar with this arrangement dating back millenia. "Commissioned" works that pay vs. passion projects that may not be economically in demand is the crux of the artist's dilemma. Artists of any media make this decision regularly, seems like a big "duh"?

Honestly it's not just artists. Most people aren't working their dream job. I'm doesn't mean you don't like your job, but if your dream job paid more, or had more availability, or more security, or whatever it is you'd probably be doing that. Luckily actors typically only have a given job for a few months a year, so they have more flexibility (which is also a risk if you don't have steady work.)
