Is it known why they wanted to be „off the grid“ in a freaking tent in the first place?
I mean the adults are tributes to Darwin, but taking the son not knowing what they are doing is criminal.
A place for people who like to be prepared for realistic disasters both human created and naturally occurring!
We expect there to be thematic overlaps with outdoor, survival, general preparedness, self-sufficient living and resilience... also gear talk is welcomed wholeheartedly.

„The three likely started camping in July 2022 and died sometime over the winter.“
„I wonder if winter came on quickly and suddenly they were just in survival mode in the tent,” Barnes said. “They had a lot of literature with them about outdoor survival and foraging and stuff like that. But it looked like they supplied at a grocery store.”“
I am absolutely ok with adult people going out and dying if they choose to, but why drag a kid alongside?
Inspired by this story: should we do a post covering the essentials? Like explaining terms (BOB, INCH, bail out, bug in, ...) and talk about basic concepts (have a place to bail out to, grayman considerations, etc).?,
Yup! I'm going to do exactly that, spread out over several posts. Just basics written in easy-to-follow language for people who aren't already seasoned preppers. No brands, I'll let people recommend whatever works for them in the comments.
Nice. Your post will get sticked to the community immediately. If you want to be bold, just name your initial post "Start here"
Awesome. I just slapped one up but I'm going to write a few primers offline and spread them out over the next week or two.
I expect in a SHTF situation, we would see a lot more of this happening.
