I love most of what gets posted here as a great reminder of the US‘s unofficial history. However I can't help but wonder where the "real leftists" are who usually go off about how "authoritarian" isn't a real word/was invented by the cia/is just propaganda.

I get where you’re coming from.

I will say, when I’ve issued that criticism. It was not so much the lack of a need for a word for something between totalitarianism and liberal democracies, but rather the lack of equitable use of any term in that space.
