Raphael Varane: "There is much less creativity in football, fewer geniuses on the pitch. Everything is robotic, there are game patterns that make it difficult to shake up a team’s block. There is much less freedom now. Carlo Ancelotti allows a lot of it, but the new generation of coaches allow less.

Teams defend better. As an attacking team, you need better, smarter players and coaches.
