Is this machine too new for this sub? Recently acquired the holy grail of Slot A: Athlon 1GHz. Very proud of this machine. I have wanted one for years.
Wow, I remember those. You'll need to see if you can find a Gold Finger Device so you can overclock it. They were little daughter boards with DIP switches that let you set the multiplier.
I actually have one. I tried it on my 900MHz processor and could only reach 950MHz. I don't want to crack open the 1GHz cpu ๐
What are the two big interconnected extension cards for?
3dfx Voodoo2 SLI
I'm going to guess that is a couple Voodoo2s in SLI.
Memories! The first computer I ever self-built was a Socket A AMD 3200+ (I think) with 1gb of RAM. I wish I had a screenshot of the system specs.
I think the '90s might be retro now, though this barely squeaks by.
I for one like these builds. Partially because I had a similar one myself (Although I went straight from Socket 7 to Socket A... never had a Slot CPU in my life.), but also because the same reason why older car engines look cooler than those feom today: When I see under the hood or in a modern computer case, all I see is plastic covers.
Besides, cable management with PAATA cables was no easy feat.
