Seriously, Iβm so sorry to hear that you have to deal with the crazies too.
The uninformed conservative public believes that curing addiction is simply a matter of forcing people not to take drugs until they are no longer addicted. They like the punitive aspect of it, because they see becoming addicted in the first place as a moral failing.
Fascism can happen anywhere.
Conservatives the world over seem to share their worst ideas among themselves.
Pierre Poilievre is borrowing John Rustad's forced treatment euphemism of locking people up without supports and away from their community.
