Sure does. You also tend to make slightly more $ for higher cost of living areas, so it's all kinda relative

Maybe not if you have kids and dependents. But that's twice what I make and I'm extremely comfortable and want for nothing.

Depends where you live too. I've got depends and I barely manage to save for retirement and I'm making quite a bit more than 100k. And I wouldn't say I live lavishly either.
