In the intro, there's a big shot of who I presume are all the villains of this new show.

The new artstyle has made some characters difficult to predict, but here's my guesses for now.

Shot of villains with my theories on who they are

If you wanna zoom in a bit: https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/6ba8b00e-8694-4b61-80fd-178c025245c3.png

Episodes 1-4 have confirmed the name of some of these characters. There's still the question of the emo-cut white-haired man who fought with Livewire in the 1st episode, but given the orange-and-black + dual-swords guy in the intro, some have speculated that he might be Deathstroke (aka: Slade Wilson).

So here's my guesses at the new villains.

  • Amanda Waller (Confirmed Episode 2)

  • Deathstroke (Evidence in Episode 2, but not 100% confirmed yet)

  • Livewire (Confirmed Episode 2)

  • Intergang (Confirmed Episode 3)

  • Dr. Ivo + Parasite 1.0 suit (Confirmed Episode 4)

  • Darkseid, Cheshire, and Jinx kinda-sorta look like the other characters in the opening. But without episodes yet, its premature to have any certainty.

  • EDIT: I noticed I missed the power-suit guy in the center-left, and the tiny purple-glowing figure in the middle. The purple-figure looks vaguely Kryptonian to me, gonna guess Eradicator (Kryptonian android left on Clark's space-ship). Center-left guy is a power-suit and flight of some kind.

  • EDIT2: Oh right, the hair girl is Silver Banshee, she just uses the new tech to do things. And she counts as "Intergang". Intergang this time is composed of Myst, Rough House and Silver Banshee, which is very unusual.

Dr. Ivo + Parasite is a very unusual combination. Dr. Ivo is more commonly known for the Amazo android. Given that this new show is willing to do things so dramatically differently, these other villains could also be combination-villains (inspired by 2 or more characters, rather than singular characters).

I don't think the guy in the background in Darkseid. Season 1 seems extremely early to introduce that level of threat. It could be Lex. He's probably the most iconic Superman villain and I can't imagine they wouldn't have him on the show

Episode 2 showed some kind of flash-forward with space-ships and a Red space-portal of flames.

IMO, the space-faring travelers are either General Zod, Brainiac, or Darkseid. Red-flames suggests Apocalypse, and Apocalypse / Darkseid is very commonly associated with Intergang (who was in Episode 3).

General Zod and Brainiac don't like sharing alien tech with Intergang. All this space-tech / future-tech came from somewhere, so its gotta be a high-tech final-boss of this season that they're working towards.

I really don't think its Lex Luthor. There's been no hints at Lex in any way, shape or form. All of these other hints (the pose, the flames, the space, etc. etc.) suggests other villains, with Darkseid as my best bet.

Do you have any bets who this space-faring battle might be? I mean, I guess it could be Starro the Conqueror since they've only confirmed space-ships so far. But Lex Luthor ain't a space-faring villain, so he can't be the one they're building up.

That's fair, I've been watching the show stoned so my memory is more than a little fuzzy. Yeah, it probably isn't Lex (though I still think they'll introduce him at some point, just maybe not this season)

Okay, follow up theory that has 0 basis in fact and just came to my head -

The dude in the back is Martian Manhunter (or another Martian). The space ships were Martian ships and Superman will have an arc where he solved the martian invasion diplomatically and he'll realize his powers can't solve everything

The entire basis for this idea is that his head looks oddly shaped like DC's martians and the fact that there will likely be a space invasion and the fact that I think Darkseid is way too strong of an enemy for this Superman unless he powers up massively

This is the kind of content we were missing here, thank you for this! I can't wait to catch up on the show.
