Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned Hezbollah leader Syyed Hassan Nasrallah to flee Lebanon days before he was killed in an Israeli strike and is now deeply worried about Israeli infiltration of senior government ranks in Tehran, three Iranian sources said.

In the immediate aftermath of the attack on Hezbollah's booby-trapped pagers on Sept. 17, Khamenei sent a message with an envoy to beseech the Hezbollah secretary general to leave for Iran, citing intelligence reports that suggested Israel had operatives within Hezbollah and was planning to kill him, one of the sources, a senior Iranian official, told Reuters.

The messenger, the official said, was a senior Iranian Revolutionary Guards commander, Brigadier General Abbas Nilforoushan, who was with Nasrallah in his bunker when it was hit by Israeli bombs and was also killed.

Israel has been trying to assassinate Nasrallah for a very long time. He was one of the few figures in the region who actually stood up to them and didn't run scared or submit to them. I don't see any way where Nasrallah would have voluntarily left, no matter how credible the threat. If anything he likely would have used this information to prepare Hezbollah for his death to make sure the fight goes on. Hezbollah is still inflicting Israeli casualties even after Nasrallah and so much of their senior leadership has died. Time will tell if these plans are enough though. I hope they are, for the sake of the Lebanese population.

Hezbollah are actual terrorists and proxies of Iran. There is no way any sane person can side with them. Their followers will gladly terrorise Europe and Israel as a "punishment". The world will be a better place without Hezbollah, and it may finally mean freedom for the Lebanese and peaceful sleep for the Israelis.

IDK what you mean by "actual terrorist" or "proxy". Would it include an organization labeled "terrorist" by the U.S. And the U.K.? Maybe people who planted bombs in the King David hotel? Maybe it would be working hand in glove with a criminal regime to terrorize innocent people? OK because what I just described is an organization called Irgun led by a fellow called Menachem Begin, or the 6th prime minister of Israel. (he was in charge when Israel invaded Lebanon if that helps narrow it down.)

This isn't a whataboutism, but a refutation to the single-digit fallacy that the terrorists are only on one side.

All I did was explain why Nasrallah probably didn't leave after being warned of the assassination attempt. Right now Hezbollah is the only thing stopping/slowing down Israel occupying Lebanon. And given how we've seen what Israel does to the native population of it's occupied territories (i.e. Palestine). I don't see how Israel being allowed to do what they want to Lebanon would be good for the Lebanese population.

Israel will also be able to get some peace if they didn't start instigating fights and wars and commit mass genocide. That's also an alternative.

Yup. Dunno why you're getting downvoted for stating the facts ... unless ofc it's just too many don't like truth anymore.

Lemmy as a whole tends to lean against what Israel is doing, thankfully. Something I personally find is when voicing these kinds of opinions, I tend to start with a few downvotes and then as the post gets traction and more people see it the upvotes actually start rolling in (still with some downvotes though). Seems like there are a few pro-Zionist accounts browsing new based on my experiences. I guess we'll see if this comment follows that trend.

What creature is a Zionist in the morning, anti-genocide in the afternoon and uses Arch btw in the evening?

This is just nonsense. Hezbollah was founded to drive the Israeli invasion out of Lebanon in 1982. If they were the cartoon villains, the western propaganda tries to make them out to be, they would have relentlessly attacked Israel ever since. Instead we saw a simmering conflict with escalations and deescalation over the past twenty years, until Israels full fledged escalation since a few weeks.

Hezbollah made it clear that they will stop attacking once a ceasefire in Gaza is reached, something the Netanyahu government has continuously blocked.

Hezbollah are a much larger danger to Sunni Muslims because of them helping Iran expand its Shia influence through violence in Iraq and Syria, than they are any danger to the West.

I know it is difficult for the white supremacists to acknowledge, but these groups don't care about the West, unless it directly meddles in their regional affairs.

Do you think Rhodesian citizens deserved to sleep peacefully?

Also, how is dropping 85 2000lb bombs on 6 apartment blocks to kill 1 person not terrorism?

How is a mass indiscriminate bombing campaign using every day items that would have been envied by the Unabomber not terrorism?

EDIT: It's also been leaked by Israel that they assassinated Nasrallah cause he wouldn't decouple a ceasefire deal with Lebanon with a ceasefire deal with Gaza.

To claim they will terrorize Europe is a stretch. Their group was created as a bulwark against European and American terrorism.

Hi Bibi! How are you today? I guess I need a shrink. Wish I was a sane person like you! My heroe!
