This article is garbage. DC threw out SS without any build up. We have previously seen most of the Thunderbolts main lineup. Fucking Bucky is there jfc. He was an avenger in End Game, not some B dude. He fought Spiderman on the big screen before that. Reading that nearly gave me an aneurism. Its like someone who has only watched superhero movies that received a good rotten tomato score and has also never seen a comic book. US Agent has lived this life before, in the comics.

Also Gunn's The Suicide Squad was great with an almost completely new team (except for Rick Flagg and Harley).
Its honestly a fine movie on its own. The only parts I hate have Jared Leto in them.
For me, one difference is... Suicide Squad (I think even The Suicide Squad 2), were mostly all-new even unknown characters from the get-go, even included some as outright fodder. While Thunderbolts members were already introduced and seen prior to live-action films and shows. Hence the latter has that advantage, the members already have their previous character journeys. There's already connection and familiarity with the audience, and perhaps even already gained fandom and admiration before their eventual team up as the Thunderbolts*.
