Ecological and cultural(First Nations) protection
That's a lot better then being barred by a corporate dairy farm.
The Nkโmip First Nation have a desert cultural interpretation centre and walking paths in the area. You can see rattlesnakes and scorpions that they are protecting. Itโs well managed ecologically.
(The website seems to be under reconstruction.)
They also have their own winery.
Well worth a visit.
This is one of those minor things that people argue about anyways, but supposedly Osoyoos isn't a "true dessert". Or at least, it isn't the only dessert because little Ashcroft is one too. It's a part of the town'sidentity as well.
