Unfortunately it seems there is a lack of political will and research and investment. We leave all this to capitalism and the free market and it's all ways too slow and chaotic. Patents will hinder adoption also. Ultimately it's already too late now, since we don't have the social and political tools to make things happen.
Combine this with some scale-up Molten Salt Reactors and you got yourself an environmentally friendly stew going!
