I Learned recently that the “.” After “S” in Harry S Truman is actually unnecessary because his middle name is quite literally “S”. Although trying to find a source to back this claim, seems most sources include, which is confounding. This link discusses it though. https://www.history.com/topics/us-presidents/harry-truman
