I can most probably search for the answer but I would like to hear from the "natives".

Why is it called the "show me state"?

What it boils down to is that we tout ourselves as being skeptics, requiring tangible proof or meaningful actions over baseless words or promises. Or at least, we used to. I wouldn't say that's what a majority of MO citizens stand for anymore.

They're also used to be socialist newspapers published in the state. Long before the Red scare. Back last time we were in the situation we're currently in now with the robber barons. A lot has changed for the wost.
