[Sway] 1970's rice! (lemmy.world)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by torculus to c/[email protected]

I decided to keep my promise and make a 1970's themed rice

  • WM: sway
  • Font: MysteryQuest
  • Prompt: ๐Ÿฏ๐Ÿฏ‚๐Ÿฏƒ starship
  • Terminal: cool-retro-term
  • Wallpaper: pixabay
  • Programs pictured: neofetch, neo, cmatrix
  • Dotfiles: here

Update (7/28/23)

Figured I'd share the entire set of screenshots. Here are the programs shown in the bottom panels

  • julia running pkg update
  • zathura showing a pdf of computational economics
  • vim showing my starship config

Amber is the best LED color.

Your rice glows. How did you do it?

[โ€“] torculus 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah, it's just cool-retro-term and some transparency in waybar

[โ€“] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

This is groovy.

Beautiful.

I code from my android tablet nowadays, but I really really miss cool-retro-term.

This looks cool, reminds me of the old school Atari marketing aesthetic from the 70s. How is sway compared to Gnome, Cinnamon and KDE-P?

Tiling window managers in general have a bit of a learning curve, but it's now one of my two go-to desktops (the other being GNOME). Once you get the shortcut keys down, it's nice having most windows be fullscreen (you switch apps by switching workspaces/tags)

Damnit I might actually need this.

how is the performance of the terminal emulator? i saw it and got in love with it

There's no noticeable lag when I'm running any of the programs I usually do. I'm not sure how it stacks up to something like kitty or alacritty though
