I actually relate to Philia here a bit. She basically wrote a PhD thesis about sainthood and then hated it. Same thing happened with my thesis. It was years later before I got a couple emails from a grad student at a different institution asking some questions about continuing the work and replicating some of the tricky steps. Writing something like that is often a labor of love, but it is a fine line between love and hate. No evil adoptive parents needed!
