Released it before Fury Road. Furiosa, as good as it was, was unfortunately under the shadow of something truly special.
Everything Mad Max
Everything Mad Max – novels, films, comics, head-canons, essays and video essays. Including “Furiosa.”
Not cast Hemsworth
We watched it for the first time last week and I thought it was damn near perfect.
Either not make it at all or make it completely unrelated to the fury road. Like completely separate story and characters just set in the same universe.
Take out the ending with the hemsworth and the damn peach tree. That was completely unrealistic and unnecessary.
Don’t cheap out on the CGI. It was distractingly bad. And have an actual final battle.
There’s no way ATJ could ever pass as a boy. The fact that she was apparently able to just cut her hair and remain mute to blend in and hide in plain sight for years is preposterous. I can embrace the ridiculous amount of unbelievable stuff in this world for the sake of storytelling and fun but that took me out of the movie for sure. I also didn’t really like how it was edited. Felt more like a bunch of random scenes that didn’t really flow together very well. Fury road was like one long take. Absolutely amazing. This was like a series of short films. Hard to get invested in.
Honestly one of my biggest criticisms is that we didn't see enough of her life as a boy in the Citadel. Like you say, how exactly was she able to blend in, how did she handle her period, and so on. Would've loved a more deep insight into that part for sure.
I haven't seen it, but I can tell you what made me skip it so far when I rushed to see Fury road in theaters. The casting.
The casting for this movie is extremely trendy. It tells me that they didn't make an effort to cast the best actors, and instead just went for the studio suggestions. Seeing Hemsworth and ATJ in this really takes me out of the whole thing.
They both were phenomenal in their roles.
