Good to hear. Arcane has made some stellar titles over the years. It would be incredibly reactionary to shutter the studio for Redfall.

How's the team compared to say Prey? Is majority of the staff still the same or have they slowly scattered elsewhere?

Sounds like they lost ~70% during redfall's development

Always good to see the listings yourself, but it's how you'd expect.

Wasn't it recently reported that Microsoft and Bethesda had no real love or interest in the game, and they sort of just left them to it?

Yeah Redfall supposedly was a Zenimax project, they wanted more GaaS products to boost their value before Microsoft's purchase.

"That is the plan right now" -Matt Booty

I think if I were at Arkane Austin, I'd be brushing up my resume.

From what I heard during development a load of the developers left because they joined Arkane to make games like Prey, Dishonored etc. Not multiplayer games.

I recently played Deathloop and while it was no Prey, it was still entertaining enough for ~25h. Story was nothing to get too excited over but the main theme, progression and general gameplay was enough to get me sucked into it. Some of the side objectives were sometimes legitimately difficult but satisfying to figure out and required you to change your approach.

What I'm trying to say is... it's a shame most of the devs left after Redfall, seems like Deathloop was the last real Arkane game that we're getting. Maybe they should focus on smaller (and cheaper) projects in the future until they regain their footing, now that they have a smaller team and a very marred reputation to go along with it.

Glad they're not getting thrown under the bus, hopefully they can move onto a game they want to make with the team they now have, sounds like they had a real bad go of things during the production of Redfall.

“Currently safe” sounds kind of ominous
