I want an AI (diffusion model) powered eink picture frame that I can send a set of prompts, perhaps along with a schedule, to and have it dream up images. No other features required. Ephemeral art.

Well guess that's another hobby project for the to-do pile.
I think this would actually be pretty simple to make, just a raspberry pi with an e-ink display perhaps. Or something more powerful for local image generation.
This is one of the better use cases for generative AI hardware. I doubt they'll go for something so practical and lacking "hype".
Who knows. They launched a hugely successful service via a Discord server…
That said, I’m not sure the designer behind the flop that was the Vision Pro will lead to a compelling “AI” hardware product.
Perhaps it’ll be goggles that’ll dream up interesting eyeballs for you to wear.
