A place to meme about the glorious ROMAN EMPIRE (and Roman Republic, and Roman Kingdom)! Byzantines tolerated! The HRE is not.

They were already doing sewers in the early Republic? Wow, that's impressive as hell.

In the city of Rome itself, yes. I don't know that they did it in any surrounding Roman-controlled towns. The Cloaca Maxima is said to date to the days of the Roman Kingdom.

Wow, the damn sewer is somewhere near the top of my list to see if I'm ever in Rome now. Who would have thought.
