So I got my head scanned and lo and behold, fucking white matter lesions just superior to the claustrum in my frontal lobe. So that explains my executive dysfunction. Seeing as that can't be treated with ritts, what job should I do that doesn't require planning and organisation, but does pay the bills? I am not good at my current job and need to switch for my mental health.

This is really terrible news. I'm very sorry for what you're going through. Sadly I just have no advice because I don't know anything about this stuff.

I will pray for you in the cathedral today

I appreciate that you're thinking about me. I would point out, however that this is not a recent occurrence. I suspect it is the result of repeated blows to the head, throughout my childhood. It doesn't seem to impact anything other that organisation/concentration.

I actually expected to find something (not necessarily lesions) in pretty much the exact place that it was. I'm just really glad it's not a brain tumor.

I am sorry you got hit as a kid... It's a good reminder to us all to be careful and loving.

Struck by lightning (3yo), Cycling accident (10yo), scooter 🛴 accident (15 yo), crane hook to the temporal lobe (17yo), fall down concrete stairs (18 yo), knee in the head while drunk wrestling (19 yo), and faceplanted on the asphalt trying to jump over a Wheely bin wile in an "altered state" 🚬🫠 (21). Not child abuse, just my own stupidity.

The lightning incident is wild, certainly..!

I would also say that this is just you being you, though, right... Obviously, it's regrettable all that happened and I am sorry to hear that it has impacted your health, but I would not call it stupidity. It's just living life to the fullest and... perhaps a bit recklessly.

I am a former alcoholic - I know a thing or two about hurting myself through bad choices..!

I've never actually had any dependencies, just poor impulse control. I'm slow to say no to people when they invite me to get wasted with them.

kind of a leap but what about a trade?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I would but it requires going through certification where I live. That means defaulting on my mortgage while I'm an apprentice and then several years before I get the same pay as I'm getting now.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

some trades have something called apprenticeship contract meaning you get paid while you learn

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

Yeah they all have that here, but I have multiple children to feed and a mortgage to pay and i ain't doing that on the wages id get as an apprentice.

Ok dammit. I guess what are somethings you don't want to do?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

Well I really don't want to do anything to do with admin. Office work in general is terrible but administrative tasks are next to impossible.

Trades pretty much all require an apprenticeship, which I can't afford.

I'd like to do something artistic or involving being outdoors, but I can't set up a workshop because my apartment is too small.

i don't know anything about this but could they study your injury and you work as a participant in the study? (side hustle?)

Unfortunately they don't have much of a neurology department where I live, and I doubt I'd get paid much if they did.
