I have a browser extension that prevents autoplay and automatically chooses the highest resolution, makes browsing much nicer

Along the bottom of the video window near the subtitles button.

Unless you are on mobile then it is at the top right next to the subtitles button.

It looks like a toggle switch with a play symbol when toggled on the right and a pause symbol when toggled to the left.
