A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. A showerthought should offer a unique perspective on an ordinary part of life.

Given that porn can't sexualize anyone under 18, she would have had to be at least 18 when she conceived her first child.

Since MILFs in porn are generally "my friend's mom" or something generationally similar, ie the MILF is defined as such by someone the age of her child, said child and their peers must be at least 18 as well.

Therefore, the minimum age for a MILF character in a porn, legally and mathematically, should be 36

But the mom might have a two year old and still be a milf

Yeah they messed up their logic. They seem to imply people are sexualizing the MILFs kid which is a bit weird.

If the kids make an appearance in the porno, they would have to be 18+. He does specifically point out porno milfs. Although I suppose the kids could just be implied in the event of a porn.

Of course it's company policy, in the event of a dildo, to never imply ownership of the dildo. We have to use the indefinite article a dildo, never your dildo

*She, and they are very rarely implied in porn unless it's in the context of finishing/boarding/imaginary 18+ young adult school.

Pornographers who are above board in any way at all wouldn't dress a set to imply there is a minor present

I think their logic is more that one of the big archetypal MILFs is "your friend's hot mom"

Your friend is probably about the same age as you, so if you're old enough to appear in a porn, your friend is probably is too (and has to be if they appear in the porn at all, even in a non-sexual role)

And the mother would have had to have had your friend at 18 because they want to avoid implying anything about a minor having sex (I don't know if that last part would actually hold any water, that seems like a bit of a stretch)

This is precisely the context I was speaking to

But you've forgotten the most important rule of porn: you can slap a "step" label onto anything. So now it's, "my friend's 'step' mom," meaning they aren't bound to actual motherhood age.

And then film in a child's room on a child's bed.

Or 18. They can still be 18 years and 9 months old when delivering a baby.

Once the baby is born, if the mother is attractive, she is then an 18 year old milf.

I’m not sure I follow your logic.

I'm focusing on MILF plots in porn specifically, where if the woman is a mother of an infant, they couldn't ever (nor would they, should they, would anyone want them to) show her with her child as a maternal figure in that role

In my opinion, MILFs make more sense to be in the middle adulthood, not too young and not too old, between the mid-thirties and late-fifties. While a young woman could be a mother, she is too young to be a MILF.

If “half your age, plus seven” gets you the youngest age society will accept, then, “minus seven, times 2” should get you the oldest acceptable age.

So (18-7)*2 is 22. A mom with a 3 year-old is still a mom.

And if that doesn’t suspend your disbelief, you could still slap on “step” to the relationship label and the script writes itself.

[–] Eladarling 1 points 1 year ago

That's conceptually different. You're taking about why society approves of regarding age differences in dating.

This post is addressing the nuances in legality and plot lines in porn

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

wtf but ok would rather not to disagree.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Ooo! Ooo! Do cougars. What are the age bounds of a cougar?

[–] Eladarling 1 points 1 year ago

For me personally? Turns out about 27:20 or 34:21, but individual anecdotes are not good data points

Is there a theydidthemath in lemmy?

This absolutely fails to account for states where 2 underage minors can conceive. An example two 16 year olds having a baby. If we wait till all parties are 18 that brings the age down to 34.

If you truly want to do the math, no matter how sickning it may be, all you need to do is find the state with the lowest Romeo and Juliet laws and add 18 to the to the mothers age.

[–] Eladarling 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Incorrect, but I understand the spirit of your argument.

In the adult industry, it doesn't matter if the age of consent in a certain state is under 18. 18 USC 2257 dictates that no minors can appear in porn and as either a result of that or out of fear of persuction for obscenity law, no US made/distributed porn can legally depict a character having sex who is under 18. State laws are irrelevant, as are laws outside the US, generally, because US distribution is key for sales

[–] einlander 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Nope, still works. In my example after the birth of the child you have to wait 18 years. So it didn't matter how old the girl was when she has a child after 18 years all parties will be of age.

[–] Eladarling 2 points 1 year ago

That's a mother then, not a MILF trope

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The only requirement for a milf is a child and ✨mommy vibes✨

[–] Eladarling 0 points 1 year ago

But you can't depict a child in a porno, which is the specific case I'm speaking to here. I don't disagree with you, generally
