I'm out. I haven't left for good yet. The time I spend there now is to tell other people about kbin and similar sites. But Kbin is now my main site, and I won't use reddit for anything other than to move more people here.

/r/place is expected to come back on the 23rd of June, which is Reddit's 18th anniversary.

You'll note that this is also conveniently a week before the API changes go into effect, so I'm planning to, as spez would put it, make some more noise by putting a message right on the middle of the canvas highlighting their bad decision. Time will tell if I'm successful in this endeavor. So far, I have dragged a couple of hundred people and some change into this mess of a plan and The Swarm is going to be backing us up as well, in the manner you'd expect from the group behind the appearance of the black void in the previous iterations of /r/place.

Afterward, I'm torching my account.

Yea, I'm done. I deleted my 11 y/o main after the Apollo/RIF announcements, and my "main" account after that absolute dumpster fire of an AMA. Honestly, even if they do revert the changes, I'm not going back.

There are subreddits that that my girlfriend and I commiserate over, so I'm not totally pulling the plug yet. But I'm all aboard the digital anarchism train and here for the Fediverse.

I've been using Mastodon for a year now. PixelFed for nearly as long. I have a self-hosted Calckey site. If I made videos I'd absolutely post them to PeerTube.

This is what the internet was supposed to be, before it got captured by corporate interests. It's time for it to come back to itself.

I’m probably out. I haven’t checked on Reddit since coming here. There’s only one sub I’ll actually miss, but the bottom line is that I don’t do ads, especially on my tiny mobile real estate (which was the entirety of my Reddit use, via Apollo).

I do pay for services that I like in lieu of, for example, Kagi search and NextDNS. So I find it insulting (but not unexpected) that Reddit would like to have their cake and eat it too by charging for features and jamming ads in the feed constantly.

Kbin is my site now, and I feel even better about that decision when I see how Ernest cares about in terms of the work being put in and communication.

I am done with it. This place will be my nightly read.

Every single thing I've been reading about the nonsense Huffman is spewing is more idiotic than the last. I'm done.

I'm trying not to go back. I deleted Reddit off my phone and am avoiding opening it on my computer. But, at the same time, there's not a lot to look at on here, currently. It's a little underwhelming in its current state, but at least reminds me of the level of conversation we used to have 20 years ago on the internet.

I joined kbin and I'll be using kbin for the forseeable future. and as a result my reddit usage has dropped. though I don't plan on leaving reddit entirely just yet. we'll see how things go though.

For good. As long as kbin, fediverse, squabbles keep growing (and I expect another huge influx Jul 1) I have no reason to go back.

I've left for good. If I do look at the Reddit website (never the app), I won't be upvoting or commenting on anything.

Been there for almost 12 years. I'm not going back unless something drastic changes, and even then I might drift between Lemmy and Reddit considering there's no guarantee Reddit will "be good" in the future.

Even if they drop everything and reverse this new policy, it's clear they don't value the people who create the content they host. After they are public, there's absolutely no incentive to respect the community anymore. For me, after fourteen years, It's over.

I was more like a lurker on there, so I simply uninstalled Reddit’s app and removed my fav marker from pc and am forcing myself to avoid it entirely, since what’s happening is rly against my beliefs.

I'm out, but I'm not committed enough to delete the account. Yet. But I sure won't be giving clicks and views.

I'm exploring new horizons (obviously, since I'm here) but I don't plan to blip out of Reddit entirely. Not until they get rid of old.reddit, or find some other unexpected but equally awful change to make.

I do expect my engagement to drop steadily over time, though. I can see the writing on the wall. Have for years, but now the wall's within spitting distance.

Yeah, I'm done with it. It's crossed the threshold into "generic corporate social media site" at this point, so there's no reason for me to stick around there.

I've been peeking in on occasion, but I intend to delete my remaining posts and comments, leverage my state privacy laws to demand removal of my data before June 30th. Unless Reddit comes to the table with substantial concessions... but even then, federation is preferable.

I'm leaving for good. I actually like kbin more, even with all the hiccups of a growing platform it's significantly more fun than Reddit has been for a while.

I'm done with reddit personally. If I use it to post in the future it will be purely to promote my activity on fediverse and my personal indie game project I'm working on.

I've already worked on establishing my presence on the fediverse. Other than promoting my fediverse accounts the site is dead to me as a personal account and social media platform entirely.

I am an artist so having as much eyes on my art as possible is important, but I also do not want reddit to generate profit from my own artwork without any gain to me.

Reddit corporate is trying really hard to shape their community into dollar signs. As long as that remains the goal, I'm not going back.

Pretty much done with Reddit. There are a few niche hobby and interest communities I might check in on, but it's going to be where I spend the majority of my time online. There's just nothing I get from Reddit that I can't find elsewhere. Besides there are probably better ways to use all the time I used to waste scrolling through my Reddit feed.

I'll be nuking my 11 yr old account soon. I've submitted the request for my data, and once I have a copy the account is getting deleted. I won't be going back.

I actually haven't deleted my ~10 year old Reddit account yet. Having thought things through, I probably won't be deleting it, but it hasn't seen any activity since this whole thing went down and it won't get any new activity in the future. The reason for choosing to let my account lie dormant rather than deleting it is because I'd rather keep the account under my control rather than risk it getting used in a way that I don't approve of. Would deleting my account free up the username for someone else on Reddit to get? I don't know, but I definitely don't want that as my username is the same across my various accounts, so it's basically me trying to keep my online identity under my control. But I'm definitely done contributing to Reddit otherwise.

On a personal level, I am done with Reddit. I am on kbin for general news and sports and stuff and my Science-Fiction/Fantasy community is creating a lemmy instance for us to cater to that niche of people, so between that I will be set.

But I am a mod on some very special fan sites on Reddit and I gave my word to the communities there to be there for them and I won't abandon my mod duties, so my only reddit activity will be mod actions and modmail responding. Some of our members are migrating and some are staying but it's a tight-knit fandom and I'm not going to abandon those that stay.

I mainly visit the r/OnePiece subreddit for updates, but there's also Discord and maybe an RSS for another website. Still gotta check.

Yeah I'm effectively off of there. I will still be looking at some of the tech related subs as they are relevant to my career, and there's also a lot of really good info buried in some of those subs. Hopefully people are scraping them - I may do so myself when/if they come back up, before the API armageddon hits.

@east Just created my account here. I'm keeping my reddit account open until Apollo shuts down, deleting everything and then not looking back.

I turned off all notifications, removed follower support, and uninstalled the app. Unless they reverse course, I will remain in that state of darkness. It's ridiculous, and I honestly believe this may be the nail in the coffin for them.
