Additionally, it'd be hilarious to scrape every worthwhile sub and reupload it to Lemmy
Lemmy Mods
A community for mods of Lemmy to work together
No API == Not easy.
With scraping it's possible, but I have my work cut out for me already.
I'm just dreaming. Always a gulf between what can be done and what should be.
A polished version of a guide would be nice to circulate. It would be ideal to pre-find the lemmy instances, so new users don’t get confused by the initial contact each instance must make (that was confusing at first). The best I could do would be listing out the steps and taking some of the guesswork out:
- visit https://lemmy.world/signup and create an account
- log in and click Communities at the top
- select All -copy and paste [lemmy link here]
- click Subscribe
Maybe have a an (Optional) section that includes things like choosing different home instances, which includes things like the ability to create communities or other limitations.
Thanks for the feedback. We'd need a much easier way though, something like a singular picture or webpage that lists out details in steps. Most users, sadly, need it spelled out in order to migrate over.
