Hi everyone and thank you in advance. My doorbell hasn’t been working and I opened it up today and noticed that the wires are still connected but it’s not hot. Can someone help me as to what the replacement wiring is? I am going to try to do this myself. The old wiring runs through into my garage, so I was hoping that I can just buy new wiring, and then tie it to the old wiring so that I can then pull the old wiring in the garage to then fish through the new wiring that way into the garage.

Doorbells typically run from 16VAC or 24VAC doorbell transformer as opposed to 120AC. You should look for the transformer and check the input and output with a volt meter to determine if the problem is the input, the transformer, or wires between transformer and the doorbell or switch.

Switch or transformer are the most common things that fail.
