Unsuccessfully ignoring the implications.

I've been thinking about going 26800 in my D4SV2s but haven't pulled the trigger. Which supplier did you get these from?

[–] BullstrongDVM 5 points 1 year ago

Once you go 26800 D4S, you can't go back.

Aloft Hobbies. They're great, fast shipping, good packaging, and a bonus treat in every order.

I've been on the internet too long to ignore the reference.

I’m really surprised there’s no real multi cell chargers yet. That Xtar single cell thing is annoying.

Ha I bought a pair of the Olight universal magnetic chargers before they got discontinued, they work on anything they're just slow.

[–] mrnorrisman 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Agreed.

You can get them for $5 from liionwhoesale.com so I suppose you could buy as many as you want and glue them together lol. Then maybe use a powered USB hub to connect them all at once.

You mean liionwholesale.com, right? Just checked and could not find anything like these magnetic chargers there. Or am I missing something?

[–] mrnorrisman 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I was referring to the SC1 charger.

Thanks for the clarification.

I recently purchased an SkyRC MC3000 and a couple of these: https://www.progressiverc.com/products/prc-magnetic-charge-cable

My plan is to 3D-print a battery "dummy" to insert into the charger, and then use copper tape on the poles to connect to female banana jacks to connect to the magnetic cables, that way I will be able to charge any sized batteries (ok, up to 50cm in lenght or so ;-)) and even better, charge them inside LiPo antifire asbestos bag for maximum charging safety. And with all the MC3000 goodness taking care of the process.

The charger and cables and LiPo anti-fire bags are still on their way to me, tho.

You may be interested in this project I did a while back. It's basically what you're describing with the dummy battery.

Thanks for the link, really appreciated! This is exactly what I was thinking about, very glad to see you did it already, so now (a) I know it works, and (b) I don't have to start from scratch.

I will look for a local for-hire 3D printer so I can manufacture that, thanks again!

I modded my nitecore ums4. What charger are you thinking about?

[–] mrnorrisman 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Here's my current setup haha.

I ordered a Xtar SC1. I have another 4 bay charger but it doesn't fit the 26800. I figured a single bay is fine for how seldom I charge these cells.

[–] Pigblanket 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That looks like itll work just fine. You into rc cars or drones?

[–] mrnorrisman 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I used to be/want to be. Just don't really have the time, money, or space right now.

[–] Pigblanket 2 points 1 year ago

Yeah I know the feeling. I have few rc crawlers shelved waiting for me to find to to play with them

[–] BullstrongDVM 2 points 1 year ago

Convoy L8 is best 26800 charger 😁

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Those look SICK! How much did they set you back? And what lights do you have that run 26800 cells?

[–] dmenezes 1 points 1 year ago

Looks like the big guys are bullying the little one... :-)
