Good stuff @solrize! The Photon II is a classic going all the way back to Ray Jardine's Trail Life. Appreciate you mentioning the weights, gotta get that Fauxton on a scale ๐ With how far LEDs and rechargeable batteries have come do you think these guys still have a place?

MODERATORS
I still like them. Good quality lithium non-recharble cells have 10+ year shelf life and work over a very wide temperature range. Rechargeables are great if you use the light a lot, but are fussier about recharging and temperature. You can get a 1st Gen Nitecore Tube (11g) for $5 at illumn.com if you want a rechargeable. I think Nite-ize may have something similar.
LRI has kept up to date with improving LEDs in the Photon series over time, so recent ones will have recent, efficient LEDs. They are standard 5mm LEDs, so upgrading an older Photon is also quite easy.
