He plays a goof but he’s a good dude. During the cali wildfires a few years ago he was one of if not the first people out there serving free food to the fire fighters. Also triple D is great advertising for some of the restaurants he goes to.

But he’s a Trumpie. Yuck

[–] TurnItOff_OnAgain 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Is he though? He was pictures at a very public event that Trump also attended. Has anything actually come out about his affiliations?

That is what I was talking about. There is a picture of him with Trump. That doesn't say anything about his affiliations.

I don’t think about Guy Fiery. Or whatever his name is.

[–] Pea666 20 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Me neither but when I do he’s sort of hybridized with that guy from Smash Mouth.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

The one who didn't eat all the eggs he promised to eat? The ones cooked by Guy Fieri? That Smash Mouth?

[–] Pea666 2 points 2 years ago

The one from Shrek fame yes.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago

Well, his name was Ferry before he took it to flavortown.

I'm actually a pretty big fan. I really like his show Guy's Grocery Games. It just seems different compared to most cooking shows/competitions out there. Most seem scripted and rigid. While I get that grocery games has to have a script it just feels off the rails sometimes and I find it appealing. I get that Guy probably isn't the best chef out there but just seems like a good dude who would always go out of his way to help others.

I always think of this review for one of his restaurants

https://www.nytimes.com/2012/11/14/dining/reviews/restaurant-review-guys-american-kitchen-bar-in-times-square.html?pagewanted=all

He visited a restaurant I worked at one time. Didn't end up on DD&D, but still cool nonetheless

Seems like a really nice guy, who is good at promoting, especially a restaurant. There was a burger place on a cruise ship I went on recently that had his name on it, they were some great tasting burgers.

[–] johndroid 6 points 2 years ago

Seems like a nice enough guy, but I'm not a fan. Which is fine, since I'm not his intended audience.

Mostly Harmless.

Seems like a decent guy. Didn't someone steal his lambo?

He's no master chef, but he's an okay businessman and very skilled marketer.

Personally I think he's annoying, and belongs in some random decade fron last century instead of the current one.

[–] nebula42 3 points 2 years ago

I can't think of him the same ever since I've read homestuck

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago

He's a celebrity chef.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

Seems like a nice person with an interesting show. I wouldn't eat at his chain of restaurants, though.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (2 children)

His own restaurants suck, but the places he shows off on one of his shows that I've also visited have been pretty impressive. So he does have good taste. Uh... In food anyway. His clothing style could use some work.

[–] MrSlicer 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

He makes bank off that style. If he just wore Levi's and a white T nobody would know him.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

He does look unique, true. But it's not a style I'd want to emulate lol

[–] pinwurm 1 points 2 years ago

Yeah - some of the places in DDD he visits are amongst the best, and definitely deserves the extra attention. I know some local spots that have his picture. He’s got great taste.

I do wish his own restaurants are better. But they’re not the worst, but far from good. The best thing I can say is that they can accommodate large groups which is hard to find in Boston. It’s inoffensive enough if you’re getting a burger and fries.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

Never heard of him

I don't really know, seems kind of obnoxious I guess? My kid liked his rootbeer BBQ sauce though.
