I didn't expect to see this in the rural western US.

You'd be surprised how deep religious minority communities have been able to penetrate into different parts of the US

I remember a story a while ago about some Sikh folks that had taken over a neglected truckstop and turned it into a sorta Gudwara themed diner stop for the folks that are making the stop on their routes, and in doing so apparently became the most popular stop in the region.

Yeah, I was going to say I'll be driving around rural NY/PA and see various temples. I've never stopped so not sure which faith but definitely not what you'd typically expect from christian churches.
