I moved to the US over twenty years ago. I became friends with a member of the consulate staff who told me that a lot of Canadians make a move to the U.S., and 70% will return to Canada within 7 years. Not me though! It took me 8 1/2 before I moved back.
I loved it there, but it was... different in ways that would take a long and personal comment to elucidate. If you last 12 years there you are probably not coming back.
