It seems to be a means of spreading good vibes, and simply could mean that you looked like you weren’t having a good day or that you held the door for someone else, or you were just lucky. But yes, the chances the cashier was flirting with you are non-zero. I’d say if it keeps happening, then maybe thats what’s happening.

Seemed many were disappointed, watching/reading too many dramas... maybe...
I would prefer it be taken as a human just being awesome and passing a good deed along!
The fact that we live in a world where acts of compassion and sharing evoke the suspicion of ulterior motives makes me sad.
