Cocktails, the libationary art!

A place for conversation about cocktails, ingredients, home mixology, the bar industry or liquor industry, glassware - this is not an exhaustive list. If you think it's in some way related to cocktails it's probably fine.

If you post something you didn't create give credit whenever possible.

Pictures and recipes are encouraged when posting a drink as a standalone post. Example of an ideal drink post:

We love garnishes.

Remember the code of conduct, keep it nice. In terms of cocktails- specific etiquette that might be different from other communities:

Mentioning your blog, insta, website, book or bar is allowed, yes. For now at least, we do allow self-promotion. If it gets out of hand this might change.

A good post with a drink you don't like is still a good post! Try not to conflate the drink and the post or poster. If someone has a relevant title, gorgeous photo and clearly formatted recipe of what you consider a truly terrible drink, a comment is more appropriate than a downvote.

On that topic: Polite critique/reviews of drinks (or posts, images, etc.) is allowed here. Encouraged , even. It's a good tool for improving your drinks and content. Really, just be nice.

I'm kicking off a long weekend with a paper plane with one oz of cognac added. Perfect.

Has anyone tried Frapin 1270, their entry level congac? I have the namesake perfume and like it a lot, but that doesn't seem like a good enough reason to buy the booze.

Tej, tej and more tej. Recently became obsessed with this delicious Ethiopian honey wine and I picked up a case on a trip. I wonder how it would work in a cocktail like a brown derby or other honey flavored drinks, but I'm too busy sipping it on a warm evening to even try mixing it with anything yet.

Rosé lemonade.

It's been really hot lately and if you haven't tried it, it's shockingly refreshing especially if you use club soda to make a sparkling lemonade with some lemons and simple.

If I'm feeling extra sweet a splash of elderflower and fallernum isn't unwelcome either.

Whiskey sours today. No egg white, just simple syrup, lemon, whiskey. Finishing with a splash of bourbon in a bottle of topo chico.

Funny exchange with the bartender at Outback. "whiskey sour please". "We are out of sour mix, I'm sorry.". "Can you make one with lemon juice and simple and whiskey?" "Oh, I guess, is that ok?"

Had a couple of mocktails at a friend's place over the holiday. The fake Campari is really good, everything else is pretty meh.

They did make a good NA bicycle thief spritz. With grapefruit seltzer and NA versions of gin and Campari.
