Welcome to /c/Gay - Your LGBTQ+ Haven

We're more than just a community; we're your haven for celebrating LGBTQ+ culture and connecting with like-minded individuals.

Community Rules:

~ 1. No bigotry. Hating someone off of their race, culture, creed, sexuality, or identity is not remotely acceptable. Mistakes can happen but do your best to respect others.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 4. Keep it LGBTQ+ related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love posts but 3-4 in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon' and fuck over our artist friends.

On one hand it's entirely normal to target merchandise sales to the stores where that merchandise sells well, but in the case of pride, it sends a really clear message.

Target are basically saying they will 'support' queer pride, but only in liberal communities where support is already strong.

It's places where queer pride is WEAK that need a show of support, not where it's already strong!

The clear message is that as expected, this isn't truly about Pride at all, it's about money, and Target will happily allow homophobia to reign victorious in places where standing against it would hit their bottom line.

Don't delete this comment. I will link to it every time someone asks what's so bad about rainbow capitalism anyway this June.

To be fair, the store employees were getting attacked by homophobes over the items. It is very understandable corporate doesn't want to risk further violence.

Still, I agree that those are exactly the places the support is needed the most in.

Most gas stations in my town have full time armed security because a homeless person might steal some food.

Wouldn't be hard to hire armed security to keep your customers from being attacked by angry bigots, I'd imagine.

It all boils down to a line on a spreadsheet. 😐

Wow the homophobic, racist, back woods, non-educated , POS won. Let's all celebrate. That's right, force those kids back in to the closet.

Thanks target you let them win. This is what they wanted I’m still so disappointed by this decision.

Guess what Target, be an actual ally or piss off. This year we buy gay shit from actual gays who have a business, and actually support the LGBT+ community.
